Natural Fertility Boosters

Natural Fertility Boosters

There are many things women can do to help boost their chances of getting pregnant. While fertility boosting drugs may be the right choice for some women, these alternative therapies are a great option for others.

  • Hypnosis

When the word hypnosis is spoken most people’s minds go to the guy on stage hypnotizing someone to cluck like a chicken. But real hypnosis is actually an alternative therapy that can remove blocks in the mind, and it can help with relaxation. In fact, the American Medical Association has even sanctioned this therapy and it is being taught at major medical schools. Hypnosis helps with fertility by relieving stress. Being overly stressed can actually mess up the healthy balance of hormones in a woman’s body, which is needed in order to ovulate and be fertile.

  • Relaxation techniques

Hypnosis isn’t the only way to relax when it comes to alternative therapy. Try meditation, yoga, and visualization. Meditation and visualization are probably the easiest ones to do, but yoga has multiple healthy benefits. Not only does yoga relax the mind, and body, but it also helps with weight loss, which is another important part of becoming more fertile.

  • Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a staple of traditional Chinese medicine and it is used to unblock energy, which helps to promote blood flow. This increased blood flow just might help to improve the blood supply that goes to the reproductive organs. On its path it can help regulate ovulation, as well as balancing and stimulating the hormones.

  • Chiropractic

Getting a good adjustment can help realign the nerves along the spine, which just might help to improve the balance of hormones. It’s important to go to a professional chiropractor to ensure that they know what they are doing. Having just anyone do these adjustments can hurt more than it helps.

All of these techniques are classified as CAM therapies, complimentary alternative medicine. They are complimentary because they compliment normal western medicine. Many doctors are suggesting these therapies now because of the good that they can do for people.

Aside from alternative therapies, there are other things that will help boost fertility that don’t even require leaving home.

  • Watch The Scale

Excess body fat can disrupt ovulation, making it harder for pregnancy to occur. However, being under weight is just as bad when it comes to reproductive health. It’s important to maintain a healthy weight for pregnancy, both before and during. Once pregnancy occurs it’s important not to overdo fitness, as it raises the risk of miscarriage, according to Christopher Williams, MD, an author and reproductive endocrinologist.

  • Eat Well

Eating healthy foods is just as important as staying active. A well-balanced diet should include iron, zinc, folate, vitamin C, and protein. Spinach is a wonderful source for iron and one cups holds 36% of the recommended daily allowance. Instead of opting for the popular protein rich meat, look to beans for an alternative source of protein. Avocados are a great source of folate, which is a must have for healthy fetal development. Another great resource to include in a healthy diet when striving for pregnancy is the Omega 3 fatty acids, which are prevalent in salmon. Omega 3’s also increase blood flow!

  • Change Bad Habits

While most women wait until after they find out they are pregnant to stop smoking and drinking, both of these bad habits can hinder a woman’s ability to get pregnant. Smoking cigarettes can damage eggs and can cause premature aging of the ovaries. Studies have actually shown that smoking makes women less fertile, even at a younger age. Alcohol works to alter estrogen levels.

  • Don’t Overlook His Health

Most people focus on the woman’s health when it comes to fertility, but many of the same things that affect her ability to get pregnant can affect his health also. Weight, poor diet, smoking, and more can cause lower sperm production, and even slow sperm down making it more difficult for them to reach the egg.

These are all great tips for improving the chances of getting pregnant. It’s important to always speak to a health care professional before starting any alternative therapies at home.
